Welcome to English

Curriculum

English lessons at St Augustine’s follow a lively scheme of work which integrates Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing. All pupils have three one hour lessons each week. Pupils are grouped according to ability from Year 7. At Key Stage 3, pupils’ progress is tracked through a series of key assessments focussing on a structured range of skills designed to improve their all round performance and reach the ambitious targets set by the school and Department. At Key Stage 4, all pupils are entered for GCSE. Pupils will be guided towards a combined English Language and Literature course or an English GCSE with a possible link with a brand new course, Digital Communication. The Department is following Edexcel courses.
