Welcome to Geography
The Geography Department aims in particular to give students:
Lower School Provision
In the lower school students will discover a new and exciting course that enables them to develop thinking skills using a range of learning techniques including ICT. The newly resources course will satisfy not only the National Curriculum, but it is also the first and only study to fully integrate the strategies for the Governments' Key Stage 3 National Strategy.
Map work skills/Local area and home region, exploring the UK, rivers and flooding, settlements/shopping, weather and climate, natural disasters.
Resorces and the environment, the coastal zone, Kenya - a developing country, farming, food and the environment and population, world issue's.
Ecosystems, Japan - a developed country, plate tectonics, tourism, globalisation, Italy.
Upper School Provision
At Key Stage 4 students follow the AQA Specification A Geography syllabus. During the course we use up-to-date resources and topical case studies to equip students with an essential knowledge and understanding of geographical issues. The course investigates issues in a number of places in the UK, Europe and the wider World. Fieldwork accounts for 25% of the course.
