The Modern Foreign Languages Department is situated in Rooms 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 on the Second Floor. A variety of activities and games will be available, including a French Café and demonstrations of interactive white board use.

Lower School Provision

Following on from developments in KS2 literacy, we have introduced a unique Year 7 scheme of work. This is done for the majority of pupils through 3 languages, French, German and Spanish. This new language learning experience encourages pupils to enhance their language learning skills as well as to embrace the culture of other European countries. We use the new Heinemann series of textbooks, Métro, Listos and Logo, supplemented by interactive white boards in all class rooms.

Extra-Curricular Activities

A French café runs every half-term where pupils can practise their newly acquired language whilst buying traditional European foods and drinks. For Year 8 pupils we have organised three verysuccessful trips to Normandy which have been hugely enjoyed by pupils and staff alike. Pupils not only practised the language, but they also enjoyed the historical and cultural aspects of the trip too.
