The Vision of the Design Technology Department
At St. Augustine's we believe in Design and Technology! As a team of 5 Design Technology teachers we strive to provide pupils with unique opportunities to learn and apply creative, practical and thinking skills to everyday problems. We feel the design and making activities planned into our curriculum are vital developmental experiences for our pupils and help to build the decision making skills that are valuable in today’s fast paced world. These skills will help our pupils as future citizens, entrepreneurs and decision makers. Traditional academic qualifications are important but creativity has a role to play in the curriculum and from this our pupils will gain a level of satisfaction and a deeper understanding of the world they live in.

Prepare for making a contribution to life and work in a technological society. Relate and apply knowledge and understing from across the curriculum. This constantly evolving cirriculum area and continues to develop to meet cirriculum needs. Facilities are constantly assessed to allow opportunities for development to be explored and allow our students the opportunity to experience all aspects of modern day technology. Increasing use is also made of the school Moodle site to allow students to complete coursework online. This facility allows completed work to be tracked efficiently and constructive feedback to be given to students to allow them to improve their work standard in the future. We also encourage parents to take an active role in looking at the quality of work their children are completing by accessing the assignments from home and seeing the grades they are achieving as they progress through the courses taken.
